


State Rep. Doug Wozniak (R–Shelby Township) today celebrated the passage of his legislation to modernize and clarify Michigan’s Marketable Record Title Act, a move aimed at reducing confusion in property transactions and helping real estate professionals better serve Michigan families.
House Bill 4524, sponsored by Wozniak, updates the law to clearly define what qualifies as an effective preservation of an interest in land. By tightening and clarifying the rules, the legislation will make property records more reliable and reduce the risk of disputes, saving time and resources for property owners, buyers, and real estate professionals alike. “This legislation ensures Michigan’s land records are accurate, reliable, and easier to navigate,” said Wozniak. “Homeownership is one of the most important investments a family can make, and our laws should give people confidence in their property rights. By strengthening the Marketable Record Title Act, we’re helping to protect homeowners while making real estate transactions more straightforward.”
