Robinson submits request to restore funding for local projects
RELEASE|January 1, 2026
Contact: Ron Robinson

State Rep. Ron Robinson (R-Utica) today announced that he plans to submit multiple appropriation requests for state funding for priority local projects through the Michigan House Legislative Directed Spending Items website. Each of these projects had their funding cancelled by a vote taken by the House Appropriations Committee. Though Robinson voted no, the action prevailed and now he is fighting to restore all the effected projects.

“The action taken by the House Appropriations Committee was well-intentioned and will ultimately help get government spending under control,” said Robinson. “It was just a shame that so many worthy projects were caught in the crossfire, many of which directly benefit the 58th District.”

Robinson will be submitting funding requests for several projects, including:

  • Sterling Heights Police Department Command Vehicle: $192,582
  • City of Warren Parks and Recreation Improvements: $1,000,000
  • Utica Ambulance Replacement: $450,000
  • Utica Fire and EMT Radios: $300,000

“It is my sincere hope that these projects are reinstated, and I will work tirelessly to make that a reality,” said Robinson. “The recipients of these grants budgeted and, in some cases, even spent funds with the understanding that they would be reimbursed by the state under a signed contract. Pulling the rug on them seemed unfair and now it’s time to make it right.”

Once requests are submitted, all submitted requests are public and can be viewed on the Michigan House Legislative Directed Spending Items (LDSI) website as part of the state budget process.
